INEC leadership said it will challenge the order of a Federal High Court in Abuja to stop collating the governorship election results in Bauchi State.
Mr. Collins Okoye (INEC National Commissioner, Information and Voters Education) said in Abuja that the commission has suspended the collation of the governorship result, he said the process will continue in the state assembly of the affected areas.
He also added that the commission has filed a motion challenging the jurisdiction of the court in granting the order.
A Federal high court in Abuja barred the commission from collating and announcing the election result in Bauchi.
The commission initially declared the governorship election in Benue, Plateau, Sokoto, Kano along with Bauchi inconclusive and also announced that supplementary elections would be held on 23/3/19nthe 23rd of March, 2019. However, INEC leadership suddenly said it will no longer hold supplementary elections in the Tafawa Balewa local government area where result was allegedly destroyed by an armed gang.
