It was a shocking ordeal in the early hours of Wednesday as Abuja-Kaduna train passengers were left with the only option of trekking to their destination after their train broke down halfway across.
The train left Abuja for Kaduna late Tuesday evening but stopped approximately 1000meters to their destination due to lack of maintenance.
The passengers claimed they were left stranded in the bush in the middle of nowhere with no hope of a backup train to convey them to their destination. They had to trek along the rail tracks in order not to encourage any unfortunate event.
It was said that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, had commissioned new Chinese trains plying the same Abuja-Kaduna axis.
