Another challenge for these founders is that formulating products for women of colour can require extra layers of testing, given the short history of research and development for darker skin tones. Breaux tested her UnSun products on 12 different skin tones. Epara went back and forth with its biochemist for years.

In certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always holds in these matters to this principle of selection: he rejects pleasures to secure other greater pleasures, or else he endures pains to avoid worse pains.

As with makeup, skincare brands have long assumed the market for women of colour was too small

We denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain.

Kolin Kaepernick- girlfriend, Nessa Diab blasts NFL for listing quarterback as ‘retired’

Published

Nessa, Colin Kaepernick

NEW YORK( TNC)-Colin Kaepernick’s girlfriend, Nessa Diab, chastised the NFL on Friday for listing the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback as “retired” on the league’s official website.

Diab also tagged commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFLPA on Twitter for “lying” about Kaepernick’s status.

The league’s website changed the “retired” tag to “UFA,” undrafted free agent, later Friday.

Kaepernick hasn’t played in the NFL since 2016 when he was 29. He completed 59.2 percent of his passes that season for the 49ers, tallying 2,241 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions in 12 games. He quarterbacked the 49ers to the Super Bowl after the 2012 season, where they lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31.

Kaepernick hasn’t found a job since opting for free agency in 2016 as attention around the quarterback shifted from his football status to his protests against social injustice and police brutality.

FIFA money is not a COVID-19 palliative – NFF Boss

Published

on

Mr. Amaju Pinnick, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, has explained that the $500,000 operational fund from football’s governing body FIFA for 2019 and 2020 is neither a relief fund nor palliative.

Pinnick said in a long thread on Twitter that the NFF would follow the rules of disbursing them as FIFA’s vigorous auditing processes is still be in effect.

“As part of our efforts to remain transparent with financial dealings and because I’ve seen a few enquiries about FIFA’s release of funds to member associations, I feel it’s my duty to update on how things stand. Every year, there are statutory allocations that federations receive from FIFA, for the smooth running of football in different federations. However, these funds come with statutory specific areas of obligations. In other words, if FIFA gives you money for youth development, you cannot use that money for anything else,” Pinnick wrote on Twitter.

“What FIFA has done now, though, is to release funds that were meant to be released later in the year, earlier. This is part of FIFA’s plans to help ease hardships that this novel coronavirus has and will cause. It is not palliative, as some have speculated.

“It merely means the different federations are, in a manner of speaking, getting July’s allowances in May. Why? Because world football governing body recognises how much the economic and football landscape has changed and is making concerted efforts to mitigate the effects.

“Under normal circumstances, federations would have received these monies only after stringent financial regulations had been met. But these are difficult times and the normally stringent processes have been partially relaxed to enable football federations struggling, to meet up their financial obligations.

“Therefore, the release of these funds is to enable football federations around the world continue their operational obligations to staff and other third parties.”

The NFF boss added, “Even though these funds are going to be released early, all federations will still be required to follow the rules of spending them. FIFA hasn’t waived those rules. If a federation gets its allocation, it is expected to spend them on agreed parameters. FIFA’s vigorous auditing processes will still be in effect.

“Hopefully, these trying times will be behind us soon, and we can all get on with our lives. Let me quickly stress here that any decision taken about football in Nigeria will be taken in line with the directives of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the Federal Ministry of Health.

“It is pertinent to note that every fund received by the federation goes through a stringent financial process of checks and balances before the funds are spent. Any monies received by the federation from FIFA, CAF or sponsors, are reported to the Honourable Minister of Sports with a detailed cover letter from these sources about spending regulations and requirements. So, aside FIFA auditing our accounts, the federation’s own external auditors usually go through these same accounts.”

Rohr Accepts a Pay Cut

Published

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has disclosed that he has agreed to the contract proposal from the Nigeria Football Federation which also entails a pay cut.

In an interview with ESPN, the 66-year-old said he was ready to accept the new condituons in his contract.

“I never talk about my contract in public, as you know,” Rohr told ESPN.

“But I heard like everybody what was said by (NFF) president (Amaju) Pinnick, that I have to accept to be paid in naira, and I have to be resident in Nigeria. I agree with these two things, and even I agree to have a lower salary.

“I am not doing my job for money. I am doing my job because I like it. Because we have built a team, as you know, and money is not the most important. But I also have to look after my assistants.

“I accept because I think that my mission in Nigeria is not finished yet, and I know very well my players. I know very well the officials. We are now just like a family, and I think it is good to continue especially in this period now where it is difficult to change, to travel, to see new people.”  Rohr added that he wanted a conducive atmosphere to manage the Eagles.

He added, “I want to work free in all my responsibilities, independence as a coach who is responsible for results. It is always good to be sure you can do a job with confidence and be free in the choice of good players.

“We have a good relationship with Pinnick, with (NFF vice-president) Seyi Akinwunmi and with (League Management Company boss) Shehu Dikko, so I think we can find an agreement. There is no big problem to change.

“All I can say is that we are discussing in a good spirit with NFF. They sent me the proposal, I sent my answer. There are some little things to discuss, and then we will see. Everything can be discussed. They have my answer, and now I will wait for the proposal coming back.”

We may begin without spectators – UEFA President

Published

on

On Monday, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin disclosed that leagues across Europe were ready to return to action behind closed doors in a bid to limit the damage caused by coronavirus.

Football leagues have been suspended since mid-March due to the pandemic which has claimed more than 100,000 lives throughout the continent.

But the head of European football believes that playing would be an essential step towards a return to a healthy life and avoid massive financial losses for leagues.

“I believe there are options that can allow us to restart cup championships and to complete them,” Ceferin said in an interview with Italian daily Corriere della Sera.

“We may have to resume without spectators, but the most important thing, I think, is playing games.

“It is early to say that we cannot complete the season. The impact would be terrible for clubs and leagues. Better to play behind closed doors than not at all.

“In such hard times, it would bring happiness to people and a certain sense of normality even if the games can only be seen on TV.

“All activities are being organised to start again, and everyone needs to find their lives.

“If safety measures are respected, and if the authorities give the green light, the training could resume like the rest.

“Further consent will be needed for matches.”

Ceferin said that if leagues returned “soon enough” then Champions League and Europa League matches could “be played in parallel” with no date limit for the finals.

The Slovenian said he was not in favour of the season going into September and October as it “would have a heavy impact” on the 2020-2021 campaign.

“We can finish, but we must respect the decisions taken by authorities,” he continued.

“The priority is the health of fans, players and coaches.”

As for countries who have decided not to finish the season, Ceferin said that UEFA “will review the cases”.

“Such decisions were not made alone,” he said.

“Football is interconnected; we have seen how important it is for UEFA and leagues to work in good cooperation. The executive committee will review the cases.”

He added: “Leagues are the revenue base for clubs nationwide. If completed, the financial consequences will be limited.

“UEFA, on the other hand, will lose a lot of money for postponing Euro 2020.”
